Admissions Requirements for the ABSN Track
Mercer University’s Second Degree Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) track is designed for students who have a non-nursing bachelor’s degree and are interested in becoming a nurse. Though previous healthcare experience is not necessary to be eligible for our accelerated nursing track, applicants will fulfill nursing school requirements as part of the admissions process.
Mercer’s Accelerated Nursing Track Requirements
To be eligible for Mercer’s 12-month ABSN track, you must hold a non-nursing bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by an institutional accreditor recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, and meet the following criteria:
Required Application Materials
- Complete prerequisite coursework for the accelerated nursing track prior to enrollment.
- Have an undergraduate cumulative GPA of a 3.0 or higher (including a 3.0 GPA for all science courses).
- Submit a résumé.
- Submit an admissions essay.
- Earn a minimum composite score of 76% on the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)*.
- International applicants: submit Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores.
*There are specific parameters associated with TEAS testing including but not limited to a required 30-day waiting period between exam attempts.
