Message from the Dean

Welcome to Mercer University’s Second Degree Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) track.

Tammy Barbé

The Georgia Baptist College of Nursing is a vibrant and historic academic institution that is making significant progress in interdisciplinary healthcare education, research, and in the delivery of superior patient care on both a local and global scale.

We take considerable pride in our rich history of educating nurses who are strong, capable problem solvers, and critical thinkers at every level of healthcare. In fact, our graduates are some of the most sought-after professionals in the field of nursing, and our nation needs more of them—fast— to help bridge the nursing shortage gap here in Georgia.

This is where our ABSN track comes into play. Designed as a second-degree option, this accelerated track makes it possible for qualified students to earn a quality BSN in 12 months by leveraging their undergraduate or graduate degrees in another field of study.

Spanning three, full-time semesters, this accredited track combines a unique blend of online and onsite instruction that prepares students to enter the nursing profession with the competence, compassion, and confidence necessary to advocate for the healthcare needs of a diverse population.

By choosing Mercer University for your nursing education, you can expect to be part of a highly supportive learning environment that fosters merit in the areas of scholarship, practice, research, leadership, and service. We look forward to helping you achieve your professional nursing career goals.

Sincerely,

Tammy Barbé, PhD, RN, CNE
Interim Dean
