ABSN Program Admissions Process
Before entering Mercer University’s Accelerated BSN program, there are several actions you will need to take as part of our admissions process.
1. Talk with an Enrollment Counselor
Before you apply, we need to get to know you. Our ABSN program is a significant commitment of time and effort, and we want to make sure you are well-positioned for success. After you fill out the form here on our website, you’ll get a call from an enrollment counselor dedicated to serving the needs of our Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program applicants.
In your initial phone call, you’ll discuss why you want to be a nurse, your academic qualifications and career goals, financial considerations, and next steps. Throughout the process, your counselor will be your main point of contact.
2. Develop Your Academic Plan
The next step in the admissions process is to put together an academic plan listing the steps you will need to take to qualify for application and enrollment to the program. Steps include reviewing your transcripts to determine any requirements you’ll need to meet, as well as any prerequisite courses you’ll need to take.
Additionally, your enrollment counselor will work with you to set a specific start date in our accelerated nursing program, in May, August, or January.
3. Complete the Prerequisite Course Requirements
In order to ensure that our second-degree nursing students are academically prepared for our 12-month ABSN program, all required prerequisites must be successfully completed prior to enrollment into the program.
4. Take the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)
To be admitted into our accelerated nursing program, you must take the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) and achieve a minimum composite score of 76 or higher.
5. Submit Your Nursing School Application
Once you are ready to apply for nursing school, you can submit your application online, along with your:
- Official transcripts from the college or university you previously attended
- Prerequisite completion form
- Resume and admissions essay
