Admissions Requirements for the ABSN Track
Mercer University’s Second Degree Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) track is designed for students who have non-nursing bachelor’s degrees and are interested in becoming a nurse. Though previous healthcare experience is not necessary to be eligible for our accelerated nursing track, applicants will need to meet certain nursing school requirements before beginning the admissions process.
Mercer’s Accelerated Nursing Track Requirements
In addition to requiring you to hold a non-nursing bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by an institutional accreditor recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, to be eligible for our 12-month ABSN track, you must meet the following criteria:
Required Application Materials
- Complete prerequisite coursework for the accelerated nursing track prior to enrollment.
- Have an undergraduate cumulative GPA of a 3.0 or higher (including a 3.0 GPA for all science courses).
- Submit résumé.
- Submit admissions essay.
- Earn a minimum composite score of 76% on the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)*.
- International applicants: submit Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores.
